Peter Karpathakis is one of the most promissing young conductor and performer that Greece has to show nowdays. He was born in Piraeus in 1977 and he lives in Athens. He studied Piano (Artist Diploma with A grade and 2nd award) , Trumpet, Violin, Percussions, Singing, Orchestration and Chorus, Band & Orchestra Conducting in Athens Conservatory, Athens National Conservatory, Art Conservatory, University of Indianapolis in USA and Sherborne Summer School in England.
He is holder of the Master of Arts in music (ΜΑ) degree, from the University of Indianapolis and he specializes in Orchestral Conducting as he was taught by Dr. Alexander Halapsis and Dr. Emanuel Piculas. The summers of 2011 and 2012 he was accepted to the Sherborne Summer School in England to study conducting under the class of the famous English conductor George Hurst (Conductor of London NBC symphony orchestra), Denise Ham (Conducting teacher of Royal Academy of music), Rodolfo Saglimbeni and Robert Houlihan. Now he is a holder of Conducting Artist Diploma of Athens conservatory under the professor Loukas Karitinos. In May 2001, he was awarded with the FIRST PRIZE and GOLD METAL on the 16th National Piano Competition by “C.O.Y.”
In June 2005 and June 2006 he started his carear as a conductor when he conducted the Cholargos String Orchestra with a lot of success. He has also conducted all major orchestras in Greece among them are the Athens Symphony Orchestra, Dominus Orchestra, E.R.T. (National Radio Symphony Orchestra), Athens Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Sherborne Symphony orchestra, Greek National Opera Symphony Orchestra (Operas among them the Magic Flute, Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, Capuletti e Montecci, La traviata, Don Giovanni, etc).
He has co-operated with artists, singers and composers like Panos Politis, Manolis Androulidakis, Kalliopi Vetta, Marva Voulgari, Evita Petraki, Mikis Theodorakis, Christos Leontis, Giannis Georgiadis, Antonis Koroneos, Giannis Christopoulos, Petros Magoulas, Tasos Apostolou, Mihaela Marcu, Eirini karagianni, Jaime Svart, Pham Trang, Cho Hae Ryong, Ly Hoang Kim, Saigon Ladies, etc and he created a very strong and respectfull relationship with them sharing many good music moments and experiences throughout all these years.
In 2018, he led Ho Chi Minh Ballet Symphony Orchestra in Hochiminh City, Vietnam. And in 2019, he conducted the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra in Athens, Greece.
